The guys on KROD ESPN 6oo were talking about the possibility of affiliated ball coming back to El Paso….if it did, Cohen would not be an option. With downtown as the most likely destination, would you support the funding of a new ballpark?
My name is David and I am living El Paso.

Think El Paso landing a triple-a team would be huge for the local economy and overall quality of life. Optimistic but also know that it would be a mini-miracle if deal went through. Keeping fingers crossed.
listening to Steve and Andy on the radio today, they said we would know in about 2 months.
NO, we cannot afford to bankroll fun projects and corporation profits. It’s a no-brainer. There are massive defaults on the horizon for cities, counties, and states, and the private citizen who works in the manufacturing, agriculture, and value-added related industries are the only ones who create new money that do not exist before their product is brought to fruition. I’m sorry to offend anyone, but public or government employees and charitable organizations do not create new money but only take from that which is created by literal means. A ball stadium, if it is a profitable venture in any market, can either bankroll itself or forget it. The rest of us in business don’t have our hand in the public till, so why should they? By the way, the “jobs” created from these stadium ventures are for concessions and groundskeeping. The big money goes out of town to the corporate owners, and often, the majority of construction dollars are funneled out of town also. Let the private sector fund such a lovely project if it is a good deal.
Thanks for your words tigerred. It looks like this bond project is definitely going full steam ahead…what projects are included will be interesting, I know public meetings are currently be held to get the public’s thoughts. Also, I believe all or a majority of this ownership group is from the El Paso area. Thanks again for stopping by and checking out the blog!
