A lot of people I talk to about Triple A Baseball always mention Reno….well I went searching and found this gem on YouTube that features a Reno council member talking about their hopes for the new ballpark (this was before it was constructed) If El Paso does build a ballpark downtown, it can be looked upon as being the main anchor for drawing citizens but simply a great supporting piece. It will take multiple components to make our downtown successful and that really starts with current building owners…that’s a story for another day however. Enjoy the videos below
This next video features development in the Reno area.

My name is David and I am living El Paso.
In my opinion as a citizen of El Paso for 25 years and speaking for those who know El Paso, a soccer stadium should be the the priority, instead of a triple A stadium. I have been to out of state and inside state soccer tournaments to cities such as Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Midland-Odessa, DFW and none of those cities have the soccer fever as El Paso. El Paso has soccer history and the demographics of the city are perfect for a 18,000-20,000 seat soccer stadium, downtown or not downtown. Utep has a very successful soccer program for women but not for men, which is so unreasonable. Back to the stadium debate, El Paso has always been looking for a soccer stadium but El Paso has NEVER put effort into it, and professional leagues as the MLS, NASL, USL are expanding and looking for cities like El Paso, that are willing to spend money for a soccer stadium, specially downtown. El Paso has the fans, the population, the demographics and specially the history to attract owners for an MLS, NASL,USL soccer stadium, but people from the city such as the Mayor and city council does not know El Paso. Why make another baseball stadium, when El Paso has a baseball stadium, just upgrade the baseball stadium to triple A and make a soccer specific stadium, to attract an MLS team to El Paso. If the baseball stadium fails to come, then attract the same owners to invest into a soccer stadium. David you should make a poll asking, will El Paso succeed with a soccer stadium or Triple A stadium.
I like the idea of the poll and will do it soon! Vic, I really appreciate you taking the time to comment on this blog, your opinion is valued and if you would ever like to do a guest post, just let me know! If you know anyone else that is passionate about this topic or others, send them here so we can expand on the conversation we are already having. thanks!
By the way, look into the soccer world, it never ends. If you don’t know the soccer history in this borderland, it is never too late to learn. Do the people from El Paso know, how many people leave from the city to try out for professional soccer teams in Mexico and college soccer division one and two.
The history of soccer in the borderland would be a great exhibit for the museum of history!
-Correct, that would be very nice for the city to exhibit soccer history from El Paso and Juarez. I did email KTSM and KVIA about this topic, but I got zero response.
David, did you know Juarez, the city across the border was about to build a 40,000 soccer stadium 4 years ago, which was going to be similar to the Alamodome. But the state of Chihuahua denied the city of Juarez to help with the stadium project and the ownership started to breakdown from that point. Now, where do you think fans with the MONEY would come fill up the stadium, El Paso, Las Cruces, Albuquerque,Juarez, Chihuahua city. The answer is El Paso as the first source and the rest would follow easily. Did you know Juarez has had professional soccer from the first and second division for years on and off due to their state not helping, but the fans of the city of El Paso have always been there, despite the violence. Check this video out and don’t get scared, but the Juarez Indios (professional soccer team) made the playoffs about 3 years ago and team presidents came to Juarez to study and gather data from Juarez and El Paso, in order to find out, how in the world is Juarez selling out every game, specially with the highest ticket prices in the league. The answer was El Paso, Las Cruces, Albuquerque, and Juarez. While watching this videos, remember many of the fans do not look like if they are from Juarez, because they are from El Paso.

- Maybe El Paso should start getting signatures from El Pasoans for a soccer stadium, instead of a triple A stadium. Do you know how that works? Philadelphia, New York Cosmos fans, Portland, Houston, San Jose and other cities have done and has worked.
