While we wait to see whether Mayor Cook will use his veto in regards to the ballpark
issue…I have some ‘new store’ news for you. I read that James Avery will open up in Cielo Vista Mall soon. James Avery is a a jewler/craftsman who offers handcrafted pieces from rings and bracelets, to charms and earrings. The company started in Kerrville, Texas in the 1950s. They have locations all across Texas and in other states across the USA.
I think all of you will be very happy to have James Avery in town…they truly offer great jewelry, quality craftsmanship, and nice store atmosphere.
My name is David and I am living El Paso.

Your wife will be happy about this one.
I love to read your site. giving davidk hell made my day. he is a pompous ass. play ball…maybe they will bring me back to do the PA.
I love this site and am thankful to have one that is fair. After battling with David K about bashing my dad, Ray Salazar, I was fighting with a ghost. A know it all who knows nothing at all. Thank you for not being disrespectful.
Thank you Susan. I really appreciate you taking the time to read the blog. The main reason I started this blog was so that I could document my journey as I explored a new city. 4.5 years later…and there is still so much to learn and see!
There is good and bad in every city. Greed is a horrible thing. I was born here, lived almost my entire life here and raised my children here. As you can tell from David K’s so called blog, I was raised in politics. We protect our own and are passionate about our family values and beliefs. I, unfortunately worked at the Courthouse while the corruption was going on all around us. People need to understand that the County and City belong to the citizens of El Paso. With that being said, we should all have a say in where our Property Taxes go. Welcome to El Paso, it is a great place to live.
Very true words. The corruption is bad here and I think it comes from living in a border community. The line is so grey with the crossover of people that work one way in Mexico and another way in the USA…that after a while, I guess a mixture of the two ways of doing business got melded together and led to the corruption probes that are going on today. I try my hardest to keep politics out of this blog but they do creep into my posts every once in a while if it’s something I’m passionate about…like development and growth of the city.
I don’t believe that it had anything about a border community, which that is what makes this a great place to live. It was the greed of certain people who are now having to serve their time. I was very hurt by some of the ones who were involved since I knew them personally. As far as the development and growth of the city, I am all for that. My problem is that there is so much vacant accessible sites to have great progress. I remember that the east side of town only went a couple of streets past McRae. LOL, now I’m aging myself.
Those are good points. I can only imagine the stress of realizing what had been going on around you once the news broke on the corruption probes. The good news is that our city can recover, and will, and hopefully we will all come away stonger.
I love, love, love, infill development. I think it is a great way to energize the core and there have been several infill sites in Sunset Heights that have been taken up recently.
Well, the Mayor has spoken and I am very disappointed. I feel that he went back on his original word and now it’s a done deal. I would love to see our city grow and develop, but I know that those of us who pay property taxes will have to pay for this also. Can’t afford much more, our home is paid off and our taxes are outrageous. Paul would be great as the PA, just hope that we all don’t lose.
I’m there with you on property taxes. With that said, I don’t mind paying for items that will make our city more enjoyable for all…such as parks, aquatic centers, better transportation corridors, etc.
The Strelz would be a great voice behind the plate for the ballpark!
Thanks for listening to me. I know that you don’t like to get into politics. We have a lot of projects that were started and still remain vacant. City and County combined.
