I am definitely going to make a trip to the Gene Roddenberry Planetarium sometime soon…whenever the next public showing is.  The sky has always amazed me and since my move to El Paso, that love has grown even more.   Has anyone gone to this planetarium?  Your thoughts on it would be much appreciated!

The Camino’s 100 year anniversary is coming up and I think  a nice present would be a re-grand opening for the place.    The owners in Mexico need to come forward with some cash and bring this hotel back to what it once was…flagship hotel of the Southwest. 

Yes, the lobby/bar is nice, but the rooms/meeting rooms are dated.  This property is so unique and should be more of a draw than it is.  If I were them, I would be upset that the Doubletree has taken over as the premier downtown hotel.(btw, I am a big fan of the Doubletree and am excited they are here…but I want all of our hotels to be great)  Maybe it is time that ownership get transferred back to El Paso…who is up for buying a hotel?  I hear interest rates are really good right now.

Good news for all of those who fear for their life as they  make a left hand turn from Resler onto  Transmountain at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday…..no longer will it be two lanes but 4 lanes!    http://www.elpasotimes.com/newupdated/ci_13823839

I believe this package that was approved includes flyovers from transmoutain to I-10 which is why the cost is so high…I think.

My posting has been really spotty the past few weeks and I want to apologize for that (this is probably the 4th time I have had a post like this, but I am trying to get better, promise!)  This past week I was in San Diego for the NAR  conference (National Association of Realtors) and came away with a lot of new knowledge.  While I was there I got a chance to walk around their downtown and see what a true urban environment looks like.  They have more condos/apartments downtown than a lot of cities in Texas…they also have a lot of short sales/foreclosures but that’s a another story for another day.

They have a great light rail system that cuts through town and shares the tracks with BNSF.  While it was nice to go visit California, I was really excited to come home to El Paso.

RobNElP who occasionaly comments on this blog had a really good comment for the El Paso Inc in that first article.  I agree with him that El Paso Inc needs a total revamp of their site…looks like it belongs in 1999 not 2009. Maybe since Sito is there now, he can get the people who did the newspapertree site to do the EP Inc site.

Basketball season is here and UTEP has real potential in both the men’s and women’s teams.  I suspect both will make a hard push to make the Big Dance, get ready to watch some great basketball!

I have decided to feature a new segment called my business of the month.  It just so happens that these places are some of my favorite to visit and spend my money at.  October is El Pisto month and while there are many great mexican food restauraunts out there, El Pisto is at the top of my list.  Yes, I know I have talked about El Pisto before, but I truly love this place.  Located on 212 W. Overland, it can be an easy place to miss if you aren’t looking for it.  I recommend their picadillo tacos, chicken tacos, stacked enchiladas, fish tacos, homemade churros and the hamburger (those are all of the dishes I have tried).

If you get a chance, grab some lunch or dinner at El Pisto.  If you are partying downtown, they open up for breakfast from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Saturday & Sunday.  Also, I hear they are getting ready to offer a Sunday Brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday…should be happening in the next few weeks.  For more info, visit their website at www.elpisto-ep.com, for directions, click here
