My radio stations of choice in El Paso

I’m in my vehicle a lot during the week and I lack satellite radio and decent cds.  What do I do for entertainment?

When I’m not caught up in my own thoughts, I turn on the radio.

Occasionaly will switch it to 104.3 Hit FM morning show (6-10)

Mid-day Radio:

AM 600  Dave Ramsey  (10-1)

AM 1150 Lisa D Show (12-1)

AM 1380 ESPN programming (11-4)

Afternoon Radio

AM 600 Sportstalk with Steve Kaplowitz/Andy Lee (4-7)

104.3 5 o’clock Bambucha (5-6)

The unthinkable happened today

My computer has died.  After 6 years and many memories, I think it has finally given in.  I had to change out the power cord twice and after I diagnosed the problem, I found out that it will probably be too expensive to repair.

Now, most are probably wondering how I am typing right now.  I am now a computer borrower.  There, I said it.  It’s only been a few hours and I already feel lost and alone.  Please bear with me as this lost computer geek tries to find his way. :(

One more thing.  Thank you again to all who listened to me on the radio yesterday.  I fufilled my dream of wearing oversized headphones.  :)

Sorry for going crazy on the emoticons, but it’s an emotional time right now and I just want my computer to work.

So I found El Paso’s holiday station…finally

Ok, so some of you might think I am a nerd, but I was really happy when I found it.  Every city has their own dedicated holiday station.  San Antonio’s was KQ 102 and Waco’s was 93.1 I believe.

check out that dial

I was driving yesterday and realized that I hadn’t found El Paso’s.   I made it my mission to find it and I did.  If you tune into 99.9 FM, you can hear all the holiday music you want.  From classics like Jingle Bells to the always interesting songs like Winter Wonderland by The Eurythmics (think I am spelling it right)  Check out the video for this song…I thought I was transported back to 1988.

So whether you care or not, at least you know where to go if you want some relaxing music after a long day at work.

What I listen to on the drive home

A couple months ago I wrote about how I listen to Buzz Adams on KLAQ in the mornings.  I finally found a show in the afternoons that I enjoy.  I usually turn it to 104.3 FM and listen to the 5 O’clock Bambucha.  I think I really just like to say the word Bambucha…but I really don’t know what it means. I tried urban dictionary but nothing relevant came up.  If anyone can find out what a Bambucha is, just leave a comment for me.

In KLAQ news, I still listen to them every chance I get.  They make mornings so much easier for me.  I will say this, all the KLAQ crew has to be there for show to be great.  When Buzz was gone for a week it just wasn’t the same.  When Teresa was gone for one day, it still wasn’t the same.  They all play off of eachother so well and without one of the crew…it just doesn’t work as well.    I found some more Q videos online so enjoy them.    Thanks to KLAQ and ennoidyam for uploading these to YouTube.

Looking for a morning show? Try KLAQ 95.5

It’s always hard to find a morning show that is consistently good and also local.  San Antonio had 99.5 Kiss which was good sometimes and Waco had none.   After cruising the dial for a few days, I turned to 95.5. It was like I had found Howard Stern’s twin brother.  Buzz Adams & his crew at KLAQ have fulfilled my need for a quality morning show.

Great voices, great commentary/interviews, great skits, and they hold nothing back.  Everytime I listen I am laughing.  If you are up in the morning from 6-10, turn the dial to The Q, you’ll be happy you did.
